Braemar Medical Associate Specialist Paediatric Dentist Katie Ayers and Anaesthetist Alan Goodey have been appointed as Medical Trustees of the Braemar Charitable Trust. Current Trust Chair and Orthopaedic Surgeon Chris O'Meeghan was also appointed for a further three year term. Trust Manager Paula Baker said "while we are sad to see Medical Trustee Adam El Gamel finish his term on the Trust, we are excited to have Katie and Alan on board as Medical Trustees". Both Katie and Alan bring significant governance experience. Katie as Approving Dental Officer and Oral Health Advisor to the five Midland District Health Boards, current President of the NZ Dental Association Board and Executive and was previously a Director and Trustee of the Medical Assurance Society. Alan has been a member of the Braemar Clinical Committee for about four years, is on the Executive Committee of the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists, is a member of the NZ Society of Anaesthetists Overseas Aid Committee and sits on the governance board of Lifebox Australia and NZ which is a charity promoting safer surgical practices in the developing nations of the Asia Pacific region through the delivery of pulse oximetry, promoting the WHO surgical safety checklist and better surgical team work.
