One of our Trustees and Clinical Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Professor Adam El Gamel was in Malaysia last month helping other consultant cardiothoracic surgeons at the Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL) Hospital with an innovative aortic surgery done for the first time in Malaysia or in fact Asia. The Waikato Cardiothoracic Unit are the leading centre in the southern hemisphere for this procedure called PEARS (Personalised External Aortic Root Support).
